Trees for Tomorrow

Program Information

Trees for Tomorrow is a five-year, $13-million initiative aimed at planting four million trees in schoolyards, hospital grounds, civic parks and other public spaces in British Columbia.

Please read the Trees for Tomorrow Program Guidelines thoroughly before completing the application form. A separate application form must be completed for each project. All application forms must be completed in full and be submitted with the required supporting documentation by the posted deadline. Project funding from the Ministry of Community and Rural Development is available up to a maximum of $50,000.

Eligible applicants include:

  • local governments;
  • First Nations;
  • institutional landowners (e.g. hospitals and universities); and
  • school districts.

Environmental and stewardship groups may apply in partnership with another eligible applicant.

Eligible costs include:

  • trees and shrubs;
  • seedlings (in the case of urban Mountain Pine Beetle affected renewal only); and
  • mulch, tree guards and mulch mats.

Project selection criteria includes:

  • ecologically sound project and site plan;
  • volunteer and community engagement;
  • stewardship, monitoring and long-term sustainability plans; and
  • linkages with other provincial government initiatives.

There is no intake at this time.
